Lesson Options & Access Guide for Fukui School

Thank you for your interest in our music lessons in Fukui! We are delighted to receive inquiries from people who share a love for music.

Before we discuss lesson options, there are two important things you should know about our Fukui studio:

⏰ Lesson Schedule

In-person lessons at our Fukui studio are available every other week (bi-weekly).

This is because I travel regularly between Fukui and Nagoya. If you need more lessons, online lessons or hybrid options (explained below) work perfectly!

🗺️ How to Get to Our Fukui School

Our school is located very close to JR Miyama Station in a peaceful, natural environment surrounded by mountains. Please note: it is not in the city centre, so planning your route is very important.

🚗 By Car (Most Convenient)

Takes about 30 minutes from central Fukui City

Free parking available

🚃 By Train (Public Transport Option)

Takes about 30 minutes from JR Fukui Station.

Important: Train services are very limited (often only 1-2 trains per hour)

🚌 By Bus

Local buses also stop at Miyama Station. Similar to trains, bus services are not very frequent. Please note that bus fares are generally higher than train fares for this route. Therefore, if the timetables align, the train is the more economical and recommended public transport choice.

🚲 By Bicycle (Scenic Route)

Takes about 1 hour from Fukui City (Just over 20km from Fukui Station) depending on your fitness.

Beautiful scenery with very few hills and light traffic.

Best for those who enjoy cycling and are physically comfortable with longer rides.

🎵 Flexible Lesson Options

If traveling to our studio is difficult, don't worry! We offer several flexible alternatives:

1. 🚲 Traveling Lessons (出張レッスン)

I can come to your home in Fukui city (within a reasonable distance)

Small travel fee: ¥1,000 per lesson

2. 💻 Online Lessons (Zoom/Google Meet)

Our most popular option

Available weekly for consistent practice

Learn from the comfort of your home

Best for: Maximum flexibility and regular weekly lessons

3. 🔄 Hybrid Lessons (Mix of Formats)

Combine any of the above options

Example: Online lesson one week + in-person lesson the next

Best for: Students who want both convenience and direct contact

FAQ: まったくの初心者ですが、レッスンを受けても大丈夫でしょうか？

「初心者ですが、レッスンを受けても大丈夫でしょうか？」
こういったお問い合わせをいただくことがよくあります。
結論から言えば——全然大丈夫です。むしろ、初心者の方こそ大歓迎です。

実を言えば、まったくの初心者の方のほうが、教えやすいことも多いのです。というのも、YouTubeの動画などを参考に独学で練習しているうちに、意図せず変なクセがついてしまうことがよくあるからです。そしてそのクセを直すのに、どこから手をつけていいか分からなくなってしまうことも…。

一度身についてしまったクセを直すには、それを覚えた時間の倍以上の時間がかかるとも言われます。だからこそ、変なクセがつく前にこそ、ぜひレッスンに来てほしいと思っています。

「まだ上手く弾けないので…」という遠慮は不要です！とても慎重で真面目な方ほど、「まだ上手く弾けないのにレッスンを受けるのは気が引ける」というお気持ちをお持ちのようです。

ですが、レッスンは発表会のように成果を披露する場ではありません。方向性を確認し、軌道修正していくためのものです。「上手く弾けないからこそ来る場所」なのです。

「ある程度弾けるようになってから…」と思って練習を重ね、でも知らないうちに間違ったやり方が身についてしまって、もう修正が難しくなってしまう……ということがよくあります。そうなると、やっている曲自体を変えざるを得ません。それでは、せっかくの努力や、それに費やした時間がもったいないですよね。だからこそ、「正しい方向で練習できているか」を定期的にチェックしていくことが、とても大切です。

私自身、子どものころは周りに音楽教室がなく、長いあいだ独学で練習していました。独習する中で得られたものはたくさんありましたが、一方で、よくないフォームや弾き方が定着してしまい、それを修正するのに何年もかかったという苦い経験もあります。

だからこそ、今は「自分のところに来てくれた生徒さんには、そういった遠回りをしてほしくない」という思いでレッスンをしています。無理なく、確実に、少しずつ、正しい方向で進めることが上達への近道です。
